Market Overview
The FTSE/JSE All Share closed last week at 79 333.72, increasing by 3.24%. The technology and telecommunication sectors were the best performing, increasing by 6.99% and 4.25% respectively. The oil & gas sector was the only detractor, decreasing by 0.18%.
Looking at the MSCI indices, developed markets increased by 3.27% during the previous week while emerging markets increased by 4.18% over the same period.

South African rand stronger as dollar extends drop
The South African rand was stronger early on Monday, as the dollar extended last week’s fall after data showed U.S consumer prices fell for the first time in more than 2-1/2 years in December. Read the full article here>
