Expired Drivers and Vehicle Licences During Lockdown

Following a number of enquiries by concerned clients we would like to confirm that should your vehicle licence disc or drivers licence have expired during the current lockdown period, your insurer will not penalize you for being unable to renew them.

We have attached a copy of the new regulations gazetted by the Minister of Transport which covers the expiry of licences between 26th March 2020 up to and including 31st May 2020. With licencing centres due to open again on 1st June, you have 90 days in which to renew/apply for your required licence and we would encourage you do do so as soon as possible. Your licence will be valid during this 90 day period.

Motor trade licences that expired are still deemed to be valid and traders have a further 6 month period in which to renew them.

Should there be any further changes we will keep you informed.
