With the current situation of unrest in our country we thought we would just advise you that you have SASRIA cover on your policy with us. We add that cover to all our policies as it is not automatically covered under your normal policy. Please see below a short summary of what is covered under SARIA and what is not covered :
What is covered under SASRIA
Sasria will cover you for the loss or damage to property insured in the underlying policy if that loss or damage is as a result of :
- Any riot, strike or public disorder or any activity calculated or directed to bring about a riot, strike or public disorder
- Any act calculated or directed to overthrow or influence any State or government or any provincial authority with force, by means of fear, terrorism or violence
- Any act which is calculated or directed to bring about loss or damage in order to further any political aim, or any act in protest against government or provincial authority.
- The act of any lawfully established authority in controlling, suppressing or dealing with any act as mentioned above.
- Looting committed as part of the acts described above.
What is not covered under SASRIA
- Any form of consequential loss, after the event, other than loss of rent as a result of the damage and only if this loss of rent is covered under the underlying policy
- Consequential loss or damage resulting in stopping work or delays in operation
- Loss or damage resulting from lawful authority confiscating insured property permanently or temporarily
- Loss or damage caused by the use of nuclear weapon or device or chemical or biological agents
- Loss or damage in any way caused by war, invasion, acts of foreign enemies or any event that determines the proclamation of martial law or state of siege.
- Loss or damage caused by prevention of access (for eg deterioration of stock on a commercial policy)
- Loss or damage for which you are liable in terms of a contract,unless you would’ve been liable for the damage in the absence of the contract
